The Four Factors
At Filmable, our goal is to create a thriving independent film industry in BC. If the future of film is indeed in Vancouver, then how does a humble organization help achieve that goal? It turns out that it’s within our collective grasp, we just need to create a framework around which we can all unite our efforts.
In deep collaboration with Tony and Taylor of Every Frame A Painting, and the support of Creative BC, we launched on a journey that took us to South Korea and across Canada looking for the answer.
The outcome, a 60min live keynote presentation that will inspire you to take action and join the growing movement.
TITLE: Every Frame a Painting: How South Korea transformed its film industry, and how Canada can too.
DESCRIPTION: South Korea makes movies that make money domestically, export abroad, and win Oscars. Why doesn’t Canada? To answer that question, Taylor Ramos & Tony Zhou (of the popular YouTube channel Every Frame a Painting) partnered with Filmable, traveled to Seoul, interviewed 60 people across the Korean & Canadian film industries, and put together a live talk that will have you laughing out loud and wondering “How can we do that here?”
Our hope is that this project helps spark a dialogue on how to unite the four components of any thriving system - policy, business, creative and cultural - into a cohesive, united strategy that makes inroads towards meaningful change.
