After the overwhelmingly positive feedback to Janessa St. Pierre’s presentation, we are thrilled to announce that at our upcoming Clubhouse, we will be hosting our first panel!
Presenting, the Ask Me Anything - BC Indie Producers Edition, featuring a stacked panel, including:

MIKE JOHNSTON is an award-winning Producer and the co-founder of the Vancouver-based production company, Studio 104 Entertainment. Founded in 2019, Studio 104 Entertainment has focused in on director-driven films with diverse narratives that are both critically and commercially appealing to an international marketplace and global audiences. Since 2021, Mike has produced a wide variety of exciting films and feature documentaries all of which has had extended festival runs and have sold in territories around the world. Highlights include Alexander Lashera’s The Beehive which was released theatrically in 2023 and Caitlyn Sponheimer’s Wild Goat Surf, which was released theatrically in 2024. On the documentary side, Mike produced Josephine Anderson’s Curl Power which had it’s World Premiere at the Hot Docs Film Festival in 2024, and served as Co-Producer on the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary, I’m Just Here for the Riot with directors Asia Youngman and Kat Jayme, due for release in Summer 2024.
TYLER HAGAN is a Michif and Canadian filmmaker based on unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations in Vancouver, B.C. His producing credits include the feature debut from Kathleen Hepburn NEVER STEADY, NEVER STILL (2017), THE BODY REMEMBERS WHEN THE WORLD BROKE OPEN (2019) by Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers and Kathleen Hepburn, UNTIL BRANCHES BEND (2022) by Sophie Jarvis; and SEAGRASS (2023) by Meredith Hama-Brown. In 2022, Tyler was awarded the Kevin Tierney Emerging Producers Award by the Canadian Media Producers Association.
LYNNE LEE is a Hong Kong-born, Chinese Canadian Marketing Executive-turned- Producer dedicated to promoting underrepresented voices in the film industry in Vancouver. She specializes in productions with a Chinese interest (MEDITATION PARK, WINGS OVER EVEREST) and dialect coaches for film & TV (SKYSCRAPER, WU ASSASSINS, KUNG FU amongst others). Since 2021, Lynne started producing short films incl. MY NAME IS ARNOLD (VAFF 2022 People’s Choice Award winner), music video-short DIFFERENT THAN BEFORE (2022 VIMEO Staff Pick, 2023 Juno’s nominee, 2023 SXSW winner, 2022 Urbanworld Excellence in Music Video Award), OBSCURA (2022 DGCBC Greenlight Award), and currently producing a Telefilm Talent-To-Watch feature THE CHINATOWN DINER (2025). She is also the Director & Producer of Vancouver Asian Film Festival’s Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon and Treasurer of the Ruby Slippers Theatre Company, creating opportunities to showcase Pan-Asian talent and stories.
MARIAM BARRY is an actor, writer, director and producer based in Vancouver, BC. She is an alumni of the VIFF Catalyst program and a lover of multi genre cinema. Her award-winning short “Yaye”, developed with Bell Media and Creative BC, won Best BC Short at GemFest and is currently in the festival circuit. Other credits include working as an Accelerator Director on Neshama Entertainments Billion Dollar Bluff now streaming on Tubi through the BSO x DGC program. As a producer, Mariam is attached to Janessa St. Pierre´s upcoming feature “Hair or No Hair”, based on the critically acclaimed short. Mariam is also racking up her script writing slate, which currently includes two features, three shorts, and two comedy pilots hitting your screenings in the near future. Mariam is also an attached writer on two shows in early development.
SARA BLAKE (Moderator) produces director-driven works that are fresh and unexpected. Sara cares passionately about the work she creates and is motivated by the unique and collaborative processes of filmmaking. Her credits include debut feature films Seagrass (FIPRESCI Award at TIFF ‘23, Sao Paulo ‘23, Mar Del Plata ‘23, Santa Barbara ‘24), Until Branches Bend (TIFF ’22, PÖFF ‘22, SXSW ‘23, Locarno ‘23, Prix de Soleure ‘23, Best B.C. Film ‘22), Raf (TIFF ’19); and Be Still (VIFF ‘21). In 2022, she won the Indiescreen Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Award.
